A highly experienced business executive, Dr. Paul Tichauer is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators specializing in commercial arbitration and mediation for the industrial, technology and materials sectors. He has extensive international commercial experience having held CEO and COO positions for over 25 years in a broad range of businesses in Canada, the USA and Europe. Currently, in addition to serving as an arbitrator Paul advises on management issues and mentors senior executives internationally across a broad range of businesses and organizations.
Founding Chair of the CIArb Canada Branch, Paul is a member of the Standing Committee of the ICC International Center for ADR in Paris as well as of the ICC Canada Arbitration Committee. He has been appointed as a Sole Arbitrator by the ICC and as a Public Arbitrator by FINRA – the Financial Regulatory Authority in the USA. Paul has participated as arbitrator and tribunal chairman at recent Vis Moot Competitions in Vienna and Hong Kong as well as a judge at ICC Mediation Competitions in Paris for the last 4 years. He was also co-chair of the CIArb Toronto Chapter’s Annual Fall Arbitration Symposium in 2014, 2015 and 2016
A Rhodes Scholar, Paul has a B. Eng. (Metallurgy) from McGill University, an MA (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) from Oxford University, a PhD (Metallurgy) from MIT and an MBA with Distinction (Finance) from Pace University. He also completed a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 2013. A Canadian citizen, Paul resides in Toronto.
