Biography
Lisa Munro is a partner at Lerners LLP who acts as a neutral arbitrator in domestic and international commercial arbitrations (both ad hoc and under institutional rules) and as advisor to arbitration counsel.
She brings to this role more than 25 years of experience as counsel in commercial litigation and arbitration (both international and domestic). She is a Fellow of CIArb, has obtained the ADR Institute of Canada’s Qualified Arbitrator (Q.Arb) designation, and is a roster arbitrator with Arbitration Place, ADRIC, TCAS, VanIAC, ICC Canada, and ICDR Canada.
Lisa is the Editor of Arbitration Matters, which features summaries of key decisions on arbitration issues as they are released by courts across the country. The website now has over 700 of these case notes and is read by hundreds of leading arbitration professionals, both in Canada and around the world. A digest of the most recent notes is sent to subscribers (for free) on a regular basis. Most recently, she has begun hosting the “Arbitration Boot Camp” webinar series, which provides practical guidance on key topics in arbitration. Lisa is also one of the primary faculty for the TCAS Gold Standard Course in Commercial Arbitration.
Lisa is a frequent speaker on issues relating to arbitration for CIArb Canada, and has been recognized by Best Lawyers of Canada (Lawyer of the Year - ADR), Benchmark Canada (Litigation Star), and Lexpert. In 2017, Lisa was recognized by the Women’s Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
