Biography

Farley Cohen is a founding Principal of Cohen Hamilton Steger & Co. Inc. where he practises as an arbitrator, mediator, and expert witness. Farley is also a roster arbitrator and mediator at Arbitration Place in Toronto.

Farley’s practice includes business valuations, quantification of economic damages, and forensic accounting investigations in many different industries and a variety of litigation scenarios. Prior to the establishment of Cohen Hamilton Steger, he was Managing Director in the Toronto office of Navigant Consulting’s Disputes & Investigations practice and, before that, the head of Kroll's Canadian Valuation Services Group.

Farley has been retained as sole arbitrator, as a member of three-person tribunals, and as a mediator. Farley’s appointments have included disputes regarding the quantification of damages, losses, and equity valuations. Farley has acted as an arbitrator in commercial litigation cases involving shareholder disputes, post-acquisition disputes, shareholder buyouts, and oppression and breach of contract disputes. 

Farley has been a Chartered Accountant (CA/CPA) for over 40 years and has appeared as an expert witness at numerous proceedings in federal and provincial courts in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Expert Witnesses by Lexpert/American Lawyer. Farley has written articles for legal publications, has been a speaker at numerous seminars and law firms, and is a Past Chair and member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
